Cheat Days: Are they helpful in your workout and dieting journey?

If you are wondering what cheat days are, then you’re not alone. Cheat days are ‘breaks’ away from a routine dietary plan. It can be viewed as occasional “dirty eating.” Cheat days are usually included in dietary plans once a week. This phenomenon can be viewed as contradictory to the ideal clean eating routine. “Cheat meals” are single meals that are not included on a diet plan. While cheat meals are single meals, cheat days are whole days.

But does this really help me achieve my weight goals, you wonder!!?

Breaking away from poor eating habits is hard. Introducing new habits is even harder. Following strict plans can often at times be tiring and demoralizing. Individuals feel motivated to stick to a given plan following breaks. The breaks are breathers that can momentarily take your mind of the strict and often demanding diet plans. When you resist the temptation to eat junk food knowing that your cheat day is coming, you’re more likely to stick to your plan. In other words, it’s a self-control technique. It also helps you introduce new habits without reverting to old habits. Treat cheat days as rewards for sticking to your diet plans and not lose focus of your goals.

When should you take cheat meals? Preferably during weekends when cravings for junk food are high. Make sure you select a “cheat meal” that you’ll really enjoy feasting on. However, don’t overdo as this will undermine your efforts toward achieving your weight goals. Cheat meals should be consumed on cheat days only. Cheat days give you the liberty to go astray but doing it without proper planning can turn into bad eating habits really quick. So, make sure you stick to your diet plans to avoid rebound weight gain from unhealthy eating. Furthermore, you need to know why you include cheat days in your diet plans.

Eyes on the prize, always!!!
